Network and services architectures

15h L / 6h R / 1WE + 1OE / 4 ECTS credits in common with IIC_PAR / IIC_ARS

Patrick MERCIER (7,5h), Virginie GALTIER (7,5h)

This course complements the 2nd year course entitled “Information Systems”. First section of this course introduces new knowledge about classical models and it brings out the current trends in network intelligence and convergence, both at the hardware and software levels. It also tackles the mobility and security problems. Second section of this course presents services architectures which ease transparent application distribution across a network of heterogeneous computers and allow interoperability between applications.

Network Architectures

Evolution of the different network layers.
Network cores and evolutions
New architectures for high-speed networks. Switching techniques. Convergent voice-data-video networks. Quality of Service. Ambiant Networks. Future networks. Intelligent networks. Active and programmable networks. Smart networks. Multi-agents systems networks. Wearable networks.
Network Security
Security and encryption : Certificats, PKI, Kerberos, SSL, IPSec, VPN, Firewalls, IDS et IPS.
Applications / Protocols / Services
LDAP, Radius and once-for-all authentication. Groupware. Autonomous and migrant Java applications. Grid computing. Myrinet, InfiniBand and Quadrics architectures.
Wireless networks / ubiquitous access
New wireless networks generations: IWEE 802.15, 802.16, 802.20 et 802.11n. Mesh and citizens networks. Nomadism.
